*Now Open in the Changing Gallery: "SOLO"

Featuring 40 dazzling quilts designed by artist Sonié Joi Ruffin, this exhibit celebrates the visual majesty of African-American quilts and also explores the African-American social experience in the Historic 12th and 18th & Vine Districts - and jazz.

Based on two of Ruffin's books, Soulful Art of African-American Quilts and Opening Day, both published by the quilt book division of the Kansas City Star, the exhibit also features unique memories and short pieces written by Sonié, a master storyteller. For more information on "SOLO," Sonié Ruffin, and scheduled public programs, go to the Changing Gallery page.
